Santa Domenica is the saint who takes care of and protects the small town of Scorrano, in the heart of Salento in the south of Italy. As the story goes, many centuries ago Santa Domenica saved the town from a great bubonic plague epidemic which threatened to kill the population. Santa Domenica worked her magic and the town was saved. To give thanks to her, everyone in the town put a little candle outside their window to light up the dark and be grateful to the saint.
Now every year the town becomes the ‘capital of light’, with the most impressive light exhibition in Italy! With stunning colours, beautiful fireworks and traditional songs, there are also many stands with foods and typical products.

Anglophilia abounds! This latest ad for BBC America, featured prominently in the New York Metro Area, suggests they are both literally and figuratively above the trash - in the way only those cheeky Brits could!
BBC Worldwide America’s General Manager told CBSNews.com, “We chose New York City because there’s a big correlation between our audience and the mindset of smart, savvy, trendsetting New Yorkers.”
It’s a pretty clever, witty way of getting your point across. Good show, old chaps!

The walking man by Zoe Hiigli. The key thing to remember about using a slow shutter speed is that anything that moves in the scene will blur. Once you’re aware of this you can use it creatively in your photography. The interesting thing here is that the object is stationary and the photographer is responsible for the movement of the camera to capture this effect.
